Event proceeds enable Live Your Dream Foundation to double scholarships in 2014; next scholarship submission deadline is October 15

PROVO, Utah—July 29, 2013—Onone ofthe first overcast days in July, participants from across the state gathered at  Provo River Canyon to support single, Utah moms and their mission of a college degree. Raising more than $30,000 for the Live Your Dream Foundation and Scholarship, the proceeds from this year’s inaugural Pioneer Day Raft and Run will provide tuition assistance for up to 10 more Utah moms, allowing them to finish their college degrees and improve the quality of life for their families.

“We are so excited about participant turnout at the first-ever Pioneer Day Raft and Run,” said Event Director David Kyle. “We knew we had come up with something special when we couldn’t find this exact type of race hosted anywhere else in the U.S. We never imagined how well attended this unique event would be especially as it landed on a state holiday.
We raised more proceeds than projected and are ecstatic to be able to offer more scholarships to single moms in 2014.”

The Live Your Dream Scholarship awards up to $2,000 per individual
applicant and can be used for tuition at any Utah university or college. The next submission deadline is October 15, 2013.

The Pioneer Day Raft and Run and Live Your Dream Foundation Scholarship were founded by Paragon Wealth Management Founder and CEO Dave Young after his daughter Katie lost her husband at a young age, leaving her with a three-month-old daughter to raise on her own.

Pleased with event results, the inspiration behind the scholarship and Live Your Dream Foundation President Katie Bunnell said, “I am very proud of what we have accomplished on this year’s Pioneer Day and look forward to adding more rafts and runners next year to ensure the scholarship is available to Utah moms for years to come.”

In addition to Paragon Wealth Management, generous event sponsors included The Barbara Barrington Foundation, who donated $10,000 to the event, as well High Country Adventure, Rev Media, H.M. Cole®, 26.2 Running, Kneaders®, Rubios®, Noodles and Company, UtahRunning.com, Sports Clips, among others. The Live Your Dream Foundation will continue to raise awareness for their cause and welcomes donations to the foundation and scholarship on a year-round basis.
