ABOUT LIVE YOUR DREAM

Dave Young, President of Paragon Wealth Management, created the Live Your Dream Scholarship in 2010. The scholarship was in inspired by his daughter, Katie. Katie’s husband, Byron, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2005. Byron was an employee at Paragon Wealth Management at the time. Byron was a dear colleague, friend, and family member. His tragic death came as an unexpected shock to everyone who knew him. He added joy and meaning to many people’s lives.

When Byron passed away, Katie was left to provide for herself and three-month-old daughter. She decided to go to college to receive her bachelor’s degree. Katie searched for scholarships, but had a difficult time finding one for women in her situation. Notwithstanding, Katie persevered and after much effort was able to complete her bachelor’s degree in just two and a half years.

The Living Dream Scholarship was created to help single mothers in similar situations complete college and accomplish their dreams.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must:

1. Be a single mother.
2. Be a resident of Utah at the time of application.
3. Be a graduate of an accredited high school or have equivalent.
4. Have realistic and obtainable educational goals.
5. Demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.

SUBMIT YOUR STORY

In addition to your application, you must also send these items to Paragon Wealth Management to be considered:

Financial Statement of Income and Expenses (Download here)
Provide a current transcript from an accredited college or university in Utah or proof of acceptance to an institution.
One letter of recommendation from a professor or teacher. The letter should be on school letterhead and include the writer’s phone contact.

Please mail or fax the above information by July 15 to be considered for the Fall 2010 (beginning Sept. 2010) full-tuition scholarship or September 1 to be considered for the Winter 2011 (beginning Jan. 2011) full-tuition scholarship:

SELECTION CRITERIA

The scholarship recipient will be selected based on individual need (your story) and your desire to succeed. The application of the scholarship recipient will be reviewed by the Scholarship Fund Committee for approval.

5K RACE

Help raise money for the scholarship by participating in the Living the Dream 5K Run/Walk. Enjoy the race, volleyball, a playground, food and fun!

WHEN: Saturday, May 15, 2010
TIME:  Race begins at 9:00 a.m., Registration begins at 8:15 a.m.
WHERE: Begins and ends at Exchange Park (900 N. 700 W., Provo). The course is along the Provo River Trail.
COST: $15 for early registration before May 1 and $20 after.
