Live Your Dream Scholarship
In 2010, Dave Young, CEO and founder of Paragon Wealth Management, created a scholarship fund to help single moms obtain college degrees. He saw the need for this after his own daughter, Katie, unexpectedly lost her husband. After watching his daughter struggle financially to support herself and her infant daughter, Dave knew he needed to support other single mothers like Katie who wanted to further their education. Dave established the Live Your Dream Foundation to provide scholarships in the amount of $2,000 per semester to single moms in need. To further help the cause of educating single mothers, Dave was also instrumental in coordinating significant gifts for the new Wee Care Child Care Center at Utah Valley University. This new Center provides first-class childcare (at little to no cost) for hundreds of mothers who need help each semester.
In 2013, Dave and his daughter, Katie, decided to create an annual fundraising event called the “Raft and Run.” The Raft and Run combines a traditional 5k run with a 5-mile rafting race down a local river. This event brings significant awareness to the local community about the struggles of single mothers who want to further their education. To date, the Live Your Dream Foundation has raised more than $50,000 in donations and has given away 23 scholarships to help single mothers.
