Currency World is an Engine

Although we keep currency funds in our investment arsenal, we don't use them very often, said Nathan White, chief investment officer of the Provo, Utah-based advisory firm.

"It's not worth the work to predict the front-running currency just to get thrown for a loop," he said, such as when the dollar unexpectedly stregthened in the fourth quarter.

"We don't have a a compelling reason to go after such funds as the Wisdom Tree Dreyfus Emerging Currency ETF this year because we see the U.S. dollar being in a range with many other currencies, taking away the ability to target a front-runner," White explained.

Paragon Wealth Management has $75 million in assets under management.
